css - overflow-x on <html> inside iframe also does overflow-y -

i'm using jquery plugin happens apply overflow-x:hidden on tag, fair enough it's purpose.

however oddly, when tag inside iframe, overflow-x acting overflow-y well!

this happening in ie7 compatibility mode.

any ideas, understanding, overflow-x supported in ie7 fine.

explicitly applying overflow-y:scroll seemed fix it.
